Joel Bejot, Bio
Joel Bejot, Director of Music, Organist, and Choirmaster, has been serving at St. Thomas Episcopal Church since December of 2013. Joel received a Bachelor of Sacred Music with an emphasis in organ from Concordia University – Nebraska in 2004. He also received a Master of Music in organ performance from Denver University in 2010. Joel has served churches in Nebraska, New York, Michigan, Colorado, and Idaho. Joel also maintains a private studio of piano, voice, and organ students. He believes his calling is to bring excellent sacred music to Christ’s church.
Joel has been married to a wonderful woman, Jessica Bejot, since December of 2001. Jessica is the current Director of Children and Family Ministries at St. Thomas. Joel’s had a great time working alongside his wife! They have three amazing daughters – Emma, Alaina, and Iris.
Joel was born and raised in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod denomination. He has found a spiritual home at St. Thomas, having been a fan of the Episcopal Church for a long time. Folks come to the Episcopal Church from many different traditions, and Joel loves getting to know folks and their varied stories.
Joel is a huge fan of the mountains, and loves getting outside, especially in the summer! The playground that is the Idaho outdoors is a blessing for him.
Joel grew up on a farm near Ainsworth, Nebraska. Where’s that, you may ask? Exactly. Joel has mostly lived in cities since growing up, and he is excited to be back in a bustling small town.
